What should I expect on treatment day?

Upon checking in for the procedure, Dr. Lipman’s team will go through the consent form and advise you of what to expect during the treatment.  Patients will require an IV-line to administer sedation medicine, and a Foley catheter to drain the bladder during the procedure. During the treatment, you will be lying on your stomach; with your body inside the MRI scanner. During each sonication, you may feel some uterine cramping or abdominal warmth. You will be able to talk to Dr. Lipman during the procedure to let him know how you are feeling, and have the ability to stop the procedure at any point if you experience any pain. The duration of the treatment depends on the size of your fibroid(s).
